Presidential Address

by Geoffrey Allan Plauché September 15, 2005 @ 6:20 pm Statism

To those who watched tonight’s presidential address, I have just two questions: 1) How much are Bush’s disaster relief and recovery proposals going to cost. The state is already massively in debt as it is and running massive budget deficits to boot. Bush’s proposals are only going to increase the strain on the economy and [...]

This entry is part 7 of 7 in the series Anarchism & Dualism

Kevin Carson has noticed our debate and gives a brief but useful summary of it. The debate about anarchism, particularly on market and non-market institutions within society, continues in the wake of his post as well as a deep discussion about time. Check it out. Addendum (10:47 pm): Speaking of anarchy, check out this discussion [...]

Surveillance Overload: Statism and Paternalistic Parents

by Geoffrey Allan Plauché September 7, 2005 @ 5:43 pm Music

Although I don’t know when Britain and other parts of Europe began setting up video and snapshot cameras all over their public spaces or how long the US and other countries have had hi-res satellite cameras, but the following lyrics from the 1982 song Electric Eye by the heavy metal band Judas Priest provide a [...]

FEMA Cover-Up: Blocking Media Video/Photos of the Dead

by Geoffrey Allan Plauché September 7, 2005 @ 8:12 am Uncategorized

FEMA is attempting to minimize the damage to their reputation and status caused by their FUBAR handling of the relief efforts in New Orleans. They are attempting a cover-up, blocking media access to the search operations, therby preventing photos and videos of the bodies from being taken. Let’s not forget that Bush also prevented (or [...]

I decided to register a domain name with DirectNIC, the company that Michael Barnett works for and that managed to keep their servers in New Orleans up through the hurricane. (See my post about this here.) And none too soon! veritasnoctis.com [...]

New Orleans Head of Operations Calls Emergency Disaster Relief Efforts a Disgrace!!!/Troops in New Orleans have "Shoot to Kill" Orders!

by Geoffrey Allan Plauché September 1, 2005 @ 10:39 pm Uncategorized

A particularly scary aspect of this is that many of these troops spent time in Afghanistan and/or Iraq. They may be all too ready to shoot first and ask questions later of suspicious looking “hoodlums.” Playing Devil’s Advocate, however, NO is in chaos, quite a few residents are armed and dangerous, and there have been [...]

Example of Central Planning at Work

by Geoffrey Allan Plauché September 1, 2005 @ 9:37 pm Featured Posts

Knowing the problems of statist central planning in theory does not compare to seeing it unfold in real life. Check out the link above for a moving example of what happens under statist central planning. A word on military and military-related acronyms: SNAFU: Situation Normal All F**ked Up CF: Charlie Foxtrot, or Clusterf**k, which is [...]
